The 86 Shadow was a great scoot but it just wasn't my thing! I've always been a road racing fan but too old and arithrit's riddled to ride one. Do like to go on longer rides so getting back to a "sport- TOURER" made sense. The Kawasaki Concours is based on the old ZX10 Ninja motor but has smaller carbs and milder cams so it has "better mid-range and less top end power". The bike has a slight forward lean but it's pretty comfortable. The fairing is excellent and the hard saddlebags are a real plus since the Mrs. and I do "2-up" riding all the time! :D It's a decent canyon carver but no match for a true "sport" bike, still it can pass a semi, uphill at over 120mph. without breathing hard! It's fun and were going to enjoy it! See you on the Road! Ride Often & Enjoy Life More! BJ Ondo 95 ZG1000 Concours Colorado Springs, CO. Edited by - bjojr on 09/26/2002 10:36:54
GeoffreyMan, that BMW K1200GT is one sweet looking bike! I'm sure the price is pretty sweet, too. And for this reason I'll keep riding my '98 K12. 1998 BMW K1200RS 1992 Yamaha FZR600

Now ya know why we decided on a Kawi Concours! The BMW's K-bikes are awsome, I had a 87 K100RS that I made a "STUPID" trade for a 95 R100RT Classic Edition, airhead twin, DUH!! BMW has priced me out of ownership as even the orginal 85 K100RS is still way expensive and OLD! If I ever get financially better off, (ya right) I'd think seriously about a K1200GT. For now the Concours is more than enough sport-TOURER for us! Ride Often & Enjoy Life More! BJ Ondo 95 ZG1000 Concours Colorado Springs, CO.

Wow! First the R1200CL and now this?! But what about the R1150RT? That seems odd that they would make two bikes that do the same thing. I wonder if this will replace the RT. Have you seen the CL? They took the R1200C cruiser and put hard bags and a fairing on it. Looks great IMO. Steve 2003 Candy Red Goldwing GL1800
John Bennett> "That seems odd that they would make two bikes that do the same thing. I wonder if this will replace the RT". Ah, but you see, they are completely different bikes. K12's are inline 4. Turning the throttle is like turning a rheostat. Awesome, but souless. R11's are twins. Feel like a motorcycle, not a two-wheeled 325i. At least that's one guy's opinion. ==========================================

Well I guess but I'll take the "souless" K-BMW over a rattley, surging R-BMW twin ANYDAY! ;D Awsome, is totally the right word for the BMW K-Bike flopped 4 cylinder motor IMHO. Now with the K-GT model you have all the good things of the K-RS and the good looks and protection of the R-RT fairing, ie: The Perfect Motorcycle, TA DA. ;) BTW, the K1200 series is much more like a BMW 7-series than the lowly 325i! :O I guess that's why they still make the archaic air-cooled twin some folks can't stand progess. RetroNow I remember why I like my bike -- it has nothing to do with the looks, cost, or the way it rides....it's the stylish name, "Honda Shadow ACE". Sure...technically it's a VT1100C2, but no one really calls it that. BMW seriously needs to get some cool names for their bikes. K-GT, K-RS, R-11??? Even Triumph has cool names like the Thunderbird and Bonneville. Oh well...I guess they're all "beamers" Ride safe! Retro

dustyYou know how technical those Germans are... - Dusty I always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific!
RetroHmmmm....that's funny.... Porsche 911, 912, 959, etc.... BMW 318, 325i, 328i, 330ci, etc.... Mercedes C100, C280, C240, E220, E240, etc... Audi A4, A6, A8, TT Compare that to: Ford Mustang, Explorer, Escape, etc... Chevy Camaro, Corvette, Impala, etc... Dodge Viper, Caravan, Durango, etc... Interesting trend there that I hadn't though about. Ride safe! Retro
