PJDMaybe you can interest the sarge in one of those stretched gas tanks. I mean they're only $1,200-$1,300 . Now I know you pay him enough that he doesn't have to fool with the plasma arc & tig when one of those beauts could be at his door in a matter of days [:Q]. By the way what are you giving your employees for Christmas this year?

RetroToo late ! He cut the sides off a tank yesterday and we over today and bought strips of steel to weld in place to expand the tank. Luckily, he has a friend who owns a muffler shop and will do the welding for him. If you hear a large "BOOM" from the Midwest....B got too impatient and tried to weld it himself... Ride safe! Retro

PJDOk I see what he's up to. Actually the tank is being "fattened" rather than stretched, a much easier task from what I've seen. Fattening will give more capacity withiut changing the 'low point' in the tank. If the tank were stretched front to back (usually by adding to the rear and involving more complicated fabrication) and followed the line of the bike the low point would change accordingly. If the fuel lines and petcock weren't moved to the new low point (cutting a new hole and patching the old one)there would be no gain since the fuel would lay in the new extension (below the draw tubes) and never be used. An outfit named "Fattank" makes these for @ $5-600.00. Just incase B has any unforseen problems he can look them up. They come through primered only (I think) but what the hey, you guys know a good painter

RetroI think he's thinking about stretching it as well. More than likely, though, that will just constitute welding on extensions from J&P. Ride safe! Retro
