| yamaha | I havent realy intoduced myself so here it goes. Most of the time we go by Js&Ts Racing, our family is into dirt trackkers(bikes) in the summer and ICE racing in the winter. We run in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Most of the time were in Mi. AMA district #23 in the summer and Wi. CWIRA(cenral wisconsin Ice racing) in the winter. When August comes around we usually take the rest of the year off and go to STURGIS.Then road ride the rest of the year.Till the snow gets to deap then get out the Ice bikes. So our family pretty much rides all year round of one type of motorcycling or another. Ive built some custom street bikes for folks and built race bikes for folks. When it comes to customs I prefer the HONDA CB-750.CHEAP good power plant and can be built to run hard. My job is basicly a house DAD due to a sezuire dissorder. But I still try and due as much as possible Our road bikes are---- 74 yamaha-650--83yamaha Venture--- 99 yamaha 1100 V-STAR-- Also I own a 85 CR-500 for dirt riding which I havent done much of latley because Ive been to busy wrenching for my son.He road PRO on the ICE last year and will do it again this year.Next summer he wants to ride PRO on the dirt trackkers.Possibly follow the AMA pro series.Wrenchhead.com stuff. needless to say were busy folks... chikens rule | |

We're trying to attract more dirt riders so we can get some good discussions going regarding racing, points tracking, techniques, etc... Feel free to let all the dirt (and snow) riders know about the site.

You'd never know it now if you visited...now it's covered with glitzy lights and 24 hour 'round the clock entertainment, even referred to as "the Entertainment Capital of the World" at one point.
And believe it or not there really is alot to see outside the boundries of "the Strip" that runs along the center of Las Vegas...there are awesome rides including Red Rock Canyon where you can partake in rock climbing, Mt. Charleston where you can really get lost in the tranquility of mother nature, and Lake Mead is a great ride also. Not to mention short freeway hops to Death Valley and Zion National Park.

Ride a black 2000 1100 Classic - 18K miles in 18 months. Did 4400 miles in 13 days this summer from Dallas up thru' Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, across S Dakota, down thru Colorado, New mexico and back to Dallas. Less than 10% on freeways. Great fun. Love to work on my bike, so it's been rejetted, repiped, and resparked. Active in SCRC Collin County, local ISRA (yamaha star series owners) chapter - the Celestial Cruisers. ride most weekends and 2-3 evening rides in the week. Send me email if anyone in the DFW area is looking for rides - even if too far to North Dallas, I can hook you up with local riders pretty well all over the madroplex.

| KCLu | Tim, I gotta ask ya, do you have one of those cool Irish brogues?
That's a bunch of miles, did you do the Sturgis thing while going through SD? Which way did you come up through Arkansas? That's some pretty riding!
Ride safe!
Lu
Da Biker Bitch ![]() | |
| The GAEL | Lu - Let's see.. the Irish Brogue.. Well, no. I was actually born in England, my parents both came from the same Irish village about 4 years before I turned up, so my accent is more English than Irish. But after a few pints of Draft Guinness, It can get fairly lilting..LOL!!
..Did I do Sturgis.. I went through the Badlands on the way up, and stayed in Deadwood for 2 nights but 3 weeks after bike week - I rode through Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer and the State Park. Missed Spearfish Canyon, will have to go back for that someday. When I left, I took in Devil's Tower on the way down through Wyoming.
...Which way through Arkansas ?...I did the Talemina Parkway drive - I've done it 5 times now, and think it's one of the best rides in the Central states. Then up to Petit Jean State Park for overnight, and then 9 North through Mountain Home and 19 out of the State. Some of the best riding in AR is in the NW corner, round Fayetteville/Jasper, Harrison - great twisties and up and downies.
But the highlight of the trip - the most adrenaline pumping part was the Million Dollar Highway from Ouray to Durango in Colorado - through the old mining town of Silverton. Mountainside clinging switchbacks with 1000 foot vertical drops one side and vertical cliff faces the other. Here's a link to one picture to get the idea:
http://www.angelhause.com/images/summer2000/mil$hwy2.jpg
I musta been nuts, and would do it again in a heartbeat..

As for the Million Dollar highway...It can't be beat! I'm originally from Colorado and love to go back (even in a cage) and drive through the mountains! Just incredible!

"Life may begin at 30, but it get's real interesting around 150."
| KCLu | Tim, you did some killer rides! I'm thinkin' I be a wussy girl... that mountain driving terrifies me. A nice slow put through the Black Hills is about all I can tolerate.
Now the hills in Arkansas, NW AR escpecially, love them hills! I'm from that neck of the woods, was raised in Joplin, I have a sister who lives in Jasper, and mother lives in Jane, Missouri. I've traveled the hills down around Mountain Home frequently in the past too. Purdy riding!
Spearfish Canyon is a pretty ride, but its a pretty short one too, so if you had to miss one, you missed the right one while you were in SD. How about Iron Mountain and the Needles? I like the Needles... all those tall rocks make me feel like there's a safety rail, LOL!
You'll have to post up some links to some pictures of your trip, I'd love to see them.

Iron Mountain and the Needles were definitely great "must do" rides in SD too.. its great running through those moantain caves that frame the view. The wildlife is amazing.. I recall coming round a corner and arriving face to face with an Elk.. we just sttod and looked at each other. I backed off and revved and he ran up the hill. More adrenaline !!
About NW AR, there's an annual biker festival called Bikers, Blues and BBQ in Fayetteville. It's a fixture on our annual calendar - I'll have to look up when and post it. Great central location for excellent rides.

Is that the 92C? Is so, can you tell me where the speedo is mounted? I had an arguement with a buddy of mine -- he seemed to think that the Shadow Aero was the only bike with a speedo mounted in the headlight. I, however, thought that 92C had it mounted there as well.

| Gulbie | Got them from Polaris but I am not sure who makes them for them. I think Lu has the same thing on the night train.
My only complaint is that a week in Sturgis with two people no bags are big enough. lol
quote: | |
| KCLu | Yup, we have the same exact bags... they're great bags! And, btw, they were Victory bags. They were $300 cheaper than the Harley bags we looked at, that were nearly identical, except smaller. They are very nice quality harness leather and hold quite a bit. The Harley bags aren't nearly as wide, they all look like really big bags, but the ones I've seen have built in recessed brackets which takes up what could be valuable interior space.
Gulbie when ya go to Sturgis, you take one change of clothes for the road, then you buy as you go and mail the dirty stuff home. Saves space. But, of course, we didn't do that last year, I wasn't riding bitch all the way to Sturgis, your ole lady is tougher than me man!

| Robbo | Here we are 2/3rd's the way through January and I'm not waiting till November to give thanks. I'm not waiting because the one I want to give thanks to is KCLu for being such a great lady and a dear friend. I can remember her post on another board that fist caught my eye and I'm not telling what she said but we've talked about it so she knows what it was she said that attacked me to wanting to interact with her on line. Sense our first communications with one another on line we've met in person last August at Sturgis and spent some quality time together getting to know each other even better. Have you ever met somebody and had a high impression of them only to find out latter that you over rated them? Well KCLu is one of just a small few I've met in my lifetime that has lived up to my high fist impression of her. To me a true friend is one that doesn't try to change you to fit into their way of doing things but lets you stay as you are because their content with who you are in the friendship. KCLu seems always willing to give me the space I need but at the same time is always there with her side of our friendship and her helpful way when I need it also. I could go on and on about this great lady but I'm sure most of you in here already have your good opinions of KCLu and to most of you I probably haven't enlightened at all about KCLu but seeing how I'm new in here you now know a little about me and what I think of our friend KCLu. Just a few more things about me, I'm a 45 year old male and I live in Medford Oregon. I've been at the same job for 24 years and I've been with the same biker babe for 23 years. We have 3 great kids and our baby's 28. I ride a 2000 purple 1602cc 98ci Yamaha Road Star my friends & I call ***Starstruck*** and as of January 19th we have 2 years & 36,503 miles together. By the way Lu's invited me in here more then once and now Lu girl here I am. As I've said before Lu thank you for your friendship and all your great e-mails. YBB, Robbo

| Gulbie | Not sure yet what day we are leaving. You know how it is you start out with 25 people going and by the time comes to hit the road you are down to just a couple. If Terry goes out again this year we will leave MPLS on Saturday, if not most likely Friday. I need to get the gang together and find out how serious everyone is about going and what their schedules look like. Should be there Saturday night for sure.
"Happiness is best pursued with horsepower"
| Dustman | We'll plan on coming in on friday or saturday morning if this all works out. Last year we got there on tuesday and missed alot of the guys. I also noticed that things begin to "wind down" by thursday. So rather that do the end of the week we'll probably do something like Saturday through tuesday. Unless of course we're having so much fun we can't possibly leave LOL. I heard last year that some people were shipping tents etc to general delivery, have you guys heard about this? I wouls sure make packing easier. When I came alone on the bike I've got a pretty good set-up, but coming two-up really cuts down the space. And I really don't want to tow a trailer behind the bike . Thought about taking the motorhome and trailering the bike (Yeah for about a half second)LOL If we come and Jenn is a long we'll probably motel it along the way and camping at Glencoe is the "ONLY" optin at sturgis as far a I am concerned. Dustman P.S. Lu, have you be boning up on your mapreading skills? | |
| KCLu | Dustyman, I GOTTA get one of them map thingies for my tank, that's all there is to it!! LOL!
Call Glencoe, I believe you can ship your stuff right out to them and then take it to the post office before you leave Sturgis. I heard a lot of people doing that, and for two up, I'd say its a must. We'll be hauling all our necessities up on our scoots, but if Tom has his way and gets all the TIt Ally parphenalia he wants, he'll have to have someone haul it up for him. Opy's OL is driving their truck up, they just don't know for sure when they're arriving... takes Opy some time to get his chit together... but he'll be there, no doubt!

| spiritrider | Hey everyone, I'm spiritrider and I just signed on with you all. I live in Beulah, Michigan and ride a Honda Shadow Spirit 1100cc 1997. I'm a new member so I'm just learning how to navigate on this site. this is my fifth bike that I've owned since I started riding in 1980. Its a nice ride but it hurts my lower back on long rides and I hate it that it only has one riding position. I've got to do something about it. Maybe floorboards and a different seat that don't sling me back so far. I put a set of slashcut cobra rumblers on it last summer and a jet kit for the carb man do I ever like the sound. I like the fact that it was the first spirit they came out with so I guess I'll keep it and continue to personalize it. My wife of 30 years is getting her MSF course under her belt this summer and hopes to be riding along side instead of on back. It's nice to meet you all. I hope to have many more conversations with you. Till then, Live to ride/ride to live Bill Casey | |
| Retro | gtrman - I sent ya an email about getting your sig pic up. Let me know if ya have any troubles.
SpiritRider - I sent you an email as well about your seat. Honda makes a terrible stocker, but there is a great mod that can be done to make it a bunch more comfortable.

I lived at 360 Adden St. in Orangeburg. It is close to the pavillion at edisto gardens. Or at least it used to be. I lived there from 1961 till the summer of 1969. I was there for all the fun and riots of the 60's. You used to go into the park at edisto if you crossed the street where adden ended. We had tanks and 6x's going down our road during the riots. The national gaurd was set up at the park.

We call that JULY up here. Just kidding - riding envy sets in about this time of year. Actually, my wife has family in the McAllen, TX area - can't get much farther south than that. I think I have her talked into trailering the bike down there some March and hooking up with the Pancho Villa into Mexico. Gotta wait a year or so until the last bird gets kicked from the nest. Wouldn't want to move down there - I like the summers & all the lakes up here. Makes for real pretty riding in the fall - crisp air, changing leaves, smell of pines in the air. Oh, well - time to get some new accesories on. But thanks for the invite PJD

| KCLu | Sinacola, go to the top of the page and click on "profile", then in the signature area you can post a pic that you have uploaded to the web somewhere. Use [ and ] instead of { and } in my example... I can't use the [ because the forum will try to display whatever's between them.
This is how I got my sig:

To post a sig pic, go to "profile" at the top of the page and create a signature pic. You'll have to have your pic uploaded to the web somewhere.
[ img ] http://www.file location/file name.jpg [ /img ]
This is an example of the code you can use within the signature box to create a signature. Use this without the spaces I have placed before the [ and the ]. I did that here so that the forum wouldn't interpret it and display a broken image symbol.
Retro will probably come along & make this much clear-er. He's gooder at this than I am.

It's on Howe Hall Road, stop by some Sunday between 8:30 and 10:00. Usually a lot of riders show up and you can usually join somebody on a day ride to somewhere if you're inclined to.

We won't make breakfast next Sunday(26), Kristy is graduating and Terry's sister will be in from Indiana for the weekend, so we'll be entertaining Sue and her kids. If you don't make it next week we will be going the following week and can meet you or whatever. Let me know.
